The FBI is warning of at least a dozen email scams that promise a ticket to The Oprah Winfrey Show and other prizes in exchange for the purchase of a plane ticket.

FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center released a warning this week about a circulating email, advertised as "Oprah Millionaire Contest Show," which asks people for their contact information.

It claims that the recipient of the email was "nominated" to attend an Oprah show in which he or she has a chance to win $1 million US.

Recipients are also told they must further pay for their own ticket to attend the famous talk show, based out of Chicago, and pay their own way there.

The bureau says the email is a fraud and not from Winfrey or her show's production company, Harpo Productions, which has also posted a warning about the scam on the show's website.

It issued a statement emphasizing that the company and the show "are not sponsors nor do we have any involvement whatsoever with this email solicitation."

Tickets to the show are free.
