jimras
Hi people. I have an older HP laser printer that still works great. It is a LaserJet 5L. The thing is, it ONLY hasa Parallel port printer cord input. I would like to use this at work with my Laptop but that computer ONLY has USB ports. I am NOT able to hook my laptop into the company network so if I want to print, I have to have myown stand-alone printer. I would love to be able to print to this HP because it works great and it's relatively cheap to operate but I have no clue of how I could access it from my laptop. Does anybody make some kind of USB to Parallel cable adapter? I have never seen one. Anybody got any ideas?
bobbynichols
I found this posting on another site that might be put up to discussion (it's kind'a dated)... re: Parallel to USB printer cable adapters for legacy printers Good luck !!!
shanenin
is it an option to connect it to a pc with a parallel port then use printer sharing?
jimras
is it an option to connect it to a pc with a parallel port then use printer sharing?No---they are paranoid about letting people access their networkwith personal laptops. I can't get on with my laptop so if I want tobe able to print, I have to have a stand-alone printer and I reallydon't want to go and buy one when I have this one just sitting there.
