martymas Posted January 19, 2009 Report Share Posted January 19, 2009 this compt has only facility for one hddso i bought an external hddcase to be able to install ubuntu8.10ok it will install but once i close the comp down i cant boot back into ubuntu or vistawhile it is going every thing works great but rebooting is the problem i thought maybe the boot setting in the bioswould help bit that dosent worki have a feeling vista is the problem because i have no problems with an xp ubuntu dual bootany adviceor have o bought a lemonmarty Quote Link to post Share on other sites

martymas Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Share Posted January 20, 2009 (edited) ok i can boot into both nowit seems the problem was the time zone factortime showing in ubuntu was 12 hrs ahead of the time in vistahere in nz we are 12 hrs ahead in some zones then northen hemiphereand because ime not very good at arithmaticit was 8 hrs before i got the both times right with our time zoneonce i estabilish that the dam thing went like a charm and is still goingthis ubuntu 8.10 isnt to bada bit new for a mug like me but i like it i have to keep vista as i have to get my moneys worthbut sooner or later ile switch to ubuntu some thing worth notingwith ubuntu i can go online before i install the filesbut with vista you cant do that until the install is finishedmarty Edited January 20, 2009 by martymas Quote Link to post Share on other sites
