bobbynichols
Howdy !I am now using K-Meleon as a browser. So far so good... except once, the chess pieces didn't all render on the chess board on an iGoogle chess puzzle widget [whatever], but subsequently has worked fine.OK, I got tired of my Opera 9.27 browser not opening my second page on iGoogle (and not showing some of my iGoogle widgets [or whatever they're called] like gmail). Now, I was using Opera 9.27 because Opera 9.5x isn't stable on my eMachines eMonster 700k using Windows 98SE with a whopping 192 MB ram (sigh)... and I'm going to wait until Opera 9.6x is known to be stable for older machines... and I don't care for IE6... and Firefox 2.0.0.16 just works wonky on my 'puter, and Firefox 3.0 isn't an option for Windows 98SE.Soooooooo... I tried Avant Browser. Prior to uninstalling Avant, after crashing, and crashing, and crashing, I finally get a web page to come up...All I get to notice on the page is an ad from Yahoo to try Firefox 3.0 ..................... then Avant crashes on me again.Maybe it's just me... but I thought it was funny. JDoors
Apparently, Google want you to "upgrade" to Chrome now.

bobbynichols
Thanx Marty... I've dl'd it and will review it next to K-Meleon ( sheeeeesh !... the dl feature on K-Meleon was even slower than Opera 9.27's standard dl'er on dial-up )Sultan... I couldn't find any more recent versions either... Prolly in the works?re: Avant....... I think so. I use FileHippo.com daily to see what's up and new and just dl'ed it last week.Funny, the FileHippo update says build 9 but the description page says build 10... but I'm pretty sure I hit the "Download Latest Version 1.91MB" tab which shows build 10.update: confirmed - it was Avant v. 11.7 build 10update (deux): Slim Browser good for dl'ing ( my Leechget proggy works )... but otherwise it's (IE IE IE !!!) slow... promising, but slooow. I accidentally doubleclicked a tab and it disappeared (closed) which I thought was rude. Having multiple tabs that all load slowly is like hearing fingernails scraping (IE IE IE !!!) on a blackboard .Sticking with K-Meleon until Opera is a viable option again. hitest
I'm sticking with FF 3.01 for now. I really did give Opera 9.51 a go, but, it segfaulted too many times on me. I've tried out Chrome on a Windows unit at work, it is a nice, speedy browser ( no *nix or OS X version yet though....grrrrr).
