nashiscool Posted June 7, 2008 Report Share Posted June 7, 2008 hii all..i'm using an acer travelmate 4152 for the past 2.5 years.lately it has been posing me a lot of problems.firstly...my cd drive has problem n it cant b used for writing cd's as in the data wont be written to the cd's.it took light of the matter...!!(this is 1-1.5 years back) now from d past 2-3 monthss...if i use applications that consume more than 100mb of memory...like counterstrike..or games on the internet...my lappy is turned off automatically.if i apply any pressure near the area in wich the cd drive is located..the same thing happens...that is it gets turned off. yesterday i tried to format my system and as soon as some of the files required for the installation are copied it gets turned off.it happend 4-5 times and i stopped tryin.. wat do you think is the problem...??i'm soo confused...i cant discard this lappy off and go for a new 1 coz my course(B.Tech) ends in year and i wont hav any such money until thne... waitin intently for your help guyss..!!! shanenin Posted June 7, 2008 Report Share Posted June 7, 2008 The first thing that comes to mind is overheating. With the laptop turned off, blow compressed air into the vent where the air blows out. This will be blowing air the opposite direction. You may see a big cloud of insulating dust come out. A failing mother board would also behave like that. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
