Bubba Bob
I transfered a domain from a webhost to Godaddy yesturday. Process went fine. However, it's been 24 hours and the domain is still pointing to the old site. Oddly, when I got up this morning and checked it, it was pointing to the new webhost. Went to church and came home, and now it's back to pointing to the old webhost... How long should it take for the DNS to update to the right info?
MetallicRed914
Depending on the TLD of your domain name, it can take up to 48 hours for changes to propagate through main DNS servers. I suggest waiting that long before contacting GoDaddy support about it. I'm assuming you have a GoDaddy account? Is the domain showing up there yet and does it have GoDaddy DNS servers set on it? Cantero
The DNS update is normally FAST, but your forgetting your ISP may have set their DNS cache to 1-5 days. Which means they are still seeing the old DNS name servers. Transferring websites form different host takes some time.
