mrdingdong
HiCan someone please tell me what should I do to remove the virus I unknowingly installed on my PC? Neither Norton nor Ad-Aware works. I got an icon blinking on my toolbar and when I click on it it tells me I got viruses on my pc and I need to buy their software to remove it. I found the folder of that program but I could only delete few of its files.THANKS!Here is my log:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 11:33:07 AM, on 2/17/2008Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16608)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EXEC:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\ACS\acsd.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exeC:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug\mdm.exeC:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\nvsvc32.exeC:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\SAVScan.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\sstray.exeC:\WINDOWS\zHotkey.exeC:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exeC:\WINDOWS\wanmpsvc.exeC:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exeC:\Program Files\Juno\exec.exeC:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\mnyexpr.exeC:\Program Files\BigFix\BigFix.exeC:\Program Files\Google\Google Updater\GoogleUpdater.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\wscntfy.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Juno\exec.exeC:\Program Files\Juno\qsacc\x1exec.exeC:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exeC:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exeR1 - rmurphy
Welcome to BestTechie! I'm Ryan, and I'll be helping you clean your computer. Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmdSelect option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htm-Ryan
mrdingdong
Hi Ryan! I appreciate your help. I have a problem: when I double click on that file SmitfraudFix.cmd, a blank, black DOS window pops up and nothing happens...?
rmurphy
Let's try this instead for now. Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.Close any open browsers.Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.-----------------------------------------------------------Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.-----------------------------------------------------------Close any open browsers. WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it startsPlease do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished. If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.-----------------------------------------------------------[*]Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.[*]When finished, it will produce a report for you. [*]Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**-Ryan

rmurphy
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or HereDouble Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan. The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.Extra Note:If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.-Ryan
