Coolie42
First of all, my previous topic Infected Pc has been blocked, but I would like to thank the team and say the issue has been resolved. I could not reply in time because I had problems with my Internet connection, but it's fine now (sorry!).The desktop PC had a malware on it, so I rebooted it (ie reinstalled everything, etc.) I backed up documents, music, etc. to my external HDD, but I think the HDD may be infected. However, my desktop, running Windows XP Home Ed SP2, seems to think that it has two versions of the OS installed on it. When I boot it, it goes to an OS choice menu, of which there are two choices, both XP Home Ed. One works and the other doesn't. Is this malware? Also, when I shut down the PC, I see for a few seconds that reg.exe could not start or something like that, before Windows shuts down. The external HDD does not open when I click it from My Computer, but asks me which program I want to open it with. Also, when I right click it, instead of open, it says Îòêðûòü !!! The autorun.inf file on the external HDD reads as [autorun]open=shell\open=Îòêðûòüshell\open\Command=10DC53F3.exeshell\open\Default=1This surely cannot be normal? Here is a HijackThis log:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 14:01:48, on 15/02/2008Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\csrss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\ACS\AOLAcsd.exeC:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\AluSchedulerSvc.exeC:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Application Accelerator\iaantmon.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\alg.exeC:\Program Files\Analog Devices\SoundMAX\SMax4PNP.exeC:\Program Files\Intel\Intel Application Accelerator\iaanotif.exeC:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\GrooveMonitor.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSvcHst.exeC:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exeC:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exeC:\Program Files\BT Voyager 105 ADSL Modem\dslstat.exeC:\Program Files\BT Voyager 105 ADSL Modem\dslagent.exeC:\Program Files\VoyagerTest\fts.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\ACS\AOLDial.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeC:\Program Files\AOL 9.0\aoltray.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1203080158\ee\AOLHostManager.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1203080158\ee\AOLServiceHost.exec:\program files\common files\aol\1203080158\ee\services\antiSpywareApp\ver2_0_12\AOLSP Scheduler.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1203080158\ee\AOLServiceHost.exeC:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\SYMANT~1\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exeC:\Program Files\AOL 9.0\waol.exeC:\Program Files\AOL 9.0\shellmon.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\aoltpspd.exeC:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exeC:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\avgas.exeC:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\NOTEPAD.EXER1 - So far, (without the HDD plugged in) it has not picked up anything via Quick Scans. Thanks for any suggestions.
rmurphy
Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.Close any open browsers.Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.-----------------------------------------------------------Very Important! WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it startsPlease do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished. If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.-----------------------------------------------------------[*]Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.[*]When finished, it will produce a report for you. [*]Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
