ime not sure if this is of interest to many on the board

but that mountaineer sir edmond hillary who conqured mount everest

has pass away

aged 88

to us he was a great man

not for climbing a dam hill but for work he did for charity

and for what he did for other people

i knew him and his family well

he was humble

kind

and a humanitarin

and he was accessable to all people not just the elite

as a matter of fact

he would get out on the road and play cricket with the kids

when he was well

the tebetian people treated him like a man on the street

and he didnt want it any other way

i hope i havent

Not at all. His story made all the newsies here in Cali. The world will miss him. I hadn't realized he was a Kiwi... with his 'Sir' title I always assumed he was a Brit.

He has always been an inspiration to me. For at least the past 45 years.

.........And I would not call Everest a hill.
