I did some research and found M$ is letting people transfer Vista (even OE versions) from one PC to another, is this correct? Ive got Vista Ultimate (OEM) on a dead box and hate to let is go to waste. Is there a way to "deactivate" it so a potential buyer would have no problems activating it?

You or they will have to call M$ and explain why. (it's not a big hassle, just tell them the motherboard died and it's now a boat anchor).

Not sure how many times the OEM can be transfered, but I know they changed their minds on it. But retail can be up to 10 times.

Also I am moving this to PC Support as it fits there better.
