Ice Cold Beer
Difinitley infected with a nasty virus. This little bug deletes any anti-virus software I've tried. Online scans don't pick it up, or are rendered inoperative when download completes, except for one.I managed to get F-Secure to run briefly. It picked up three or four .EXE files in the windows directory. No B.S. -- I opened the folders, and the files were deleted as I watched. Another scan, different names, different folders -- but still being flagged as bugs. Same deal. Open the folders, the files vanish. THIRD scan. Same thing, different folders. It's like some sort of shell game.If anyone can figure this out, I'll owe you big time.hijackthis log:Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 9:16:28 PM, on 10/31/2007Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16544)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeD:\More Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\aawservice.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\ezSP_Px.exeC:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exeD:\MOREPR~1\SRNMIC~1\SOLOSENT.EXED:\MOREPR~1\SRNMIC~1\SOLOCFG.EXED:\More Program Files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy\SBCSTray.exeC:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exeC:\Program Files\Philips\Philips Device Manager\Bin\DeviceManager.exeD:\iTunesHelper.exeC:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\cli.exeC:\Program Files\Philips\Philips Lime Service\bin\LimeAlive.exeC:\Program Files\MySpace\IM\MySpaceIM.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeC:\Program Files\Creative\MediaSource\Detector\CTDetect.exeC:\Program Files\Philips\Philips Lime Service\bin\Lime.exeC:\Program Files\sony\usbsircs\usbsircs.exeC:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Yahoo! Andro1d
Hello and Welcome to BT. I am MoNsTeReNeRgY22 and I will be assisting you with your malware problem today. Step 1Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.Double-click SmitfraudFix.exeSelect option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/proc...processutil.htmStep 2Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply along with the SmitFraudFix logNote: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Andro1d
Hello,You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :Restart your computerAfter hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".Choose your usual account.Once in Safe Mode, double-click on SmitfraudFix.exeSelect option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files. You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection. The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply. The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txtWarning : running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background. Then reboot to Normal Mode. Then please look for the ComboFix log at C:\ComboFix.txt
Ice Cold Beer
Sorry for the delay in replying.Won't let me reboot to safe mode. I'm going to try logging and see what happens.
Ice Cold Beer
Definitely can't get to safe mode. It shuts down and restarts about halfway through if I try to start in anything but normal mode.
Andro1d
Hello,Please make sure to post the ComboFix log in your next post, it will be at C:\ComboFix.txt.The steps that I am about to suggest involve modifying the registry. Modfying the registry can be dangerous so we will make a backup of the registry first. Modification of the registry can be EXTREMELY dangerous if you do not know exactly what you are doing so follow the steps that are listed below EXACTLY. if you cannot preform some of these steps or if you have ANY questions please ask BEFORE proceeding.Backing Up Your RegistryGo to Start > RunType:regeditClick OK.On the leftside, click to highlight My Computer at the top.Go up to "File > Export" Make sure in that window there is a tick next to "All" under Export Branch.Leave the "Save As Type" as "Registration Files".Under "Filename" put backup[*]Choose to save it to C:\ or somewhere else safe so that you will remember where you put it (don't put it on the desktop!)[*]Click save and then go to File > Exit. This is so the registry can be restored to this point if we need it. It may take a minute. Just let it go until it's done.Registry ModificationsOpen Notepad, and copy the contents of the following box to a new file.Windows Registry Editor Version Andro1d
I do not recommend that you have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time. The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to cause "false alarms". It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause:1) False Alarms: When the anti virus software tells you that your PC has a virus when it actually doesn't. 2) System Performance Problems: Your system may lock up due to both products attempting to access the same file at the same time. Therefore please go to Add or Remove in the control panel and remove either AVG 7 or Avast.Other than that, nice job your log looks clean! How is it running?Time for some housekeeping Click START then RUN Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK [*] When shown the disclaimer, Select "2"The above procedure will: Delete the following: ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
