martymas Posted December 15, 2004 Report Share Posted December 15, 2004 sorry for starting a new thread.but ide like to acknowledge the help in thelinux forumi have installed mandrake 10.successfully.and through the advice of the members im now a mandrake junky.at firdt a had troubles installing it .it wasnt recognising my cd rom .and i had the bios set to install from the cdrom.how ever when i posted iccoriosposted and gave me some info.on the appli which i applied and bingo im on .i havent configured my modem yet but if 9.1 is an example im going to have toneed help with it.i have the modem driver cd so that will be some help.myQ TO BE ABLE TO CONFIGURE THE MODEM WOULD I NEED TO USE THE CONSOLE .im not sure of the konsole commands .but i have them printed out.is mandrake 10 any differewnt from 9.1 .when configuring the modem.i have every thing configured .but the sound card and the modem . thanks guys . marty Quote Link to post Share on other sites
jcl Posted December 15, 2004 Report Share Posted December 15, 2004 (edited) MDK 10 should be pretty much the same as MDK 9.1 under the hood. Unfortunately the one big difference is kernel version, which might make the modem a bit tricky. The procedure will probably be about the same, but there could be some differences. (There is a small possibility that it won't work at all, but I doubt that's the case.)On the bright side, audio support is better, so it might be easier to set up the sound card.EditScratch the first bit, if the modem is an 536EP here's the MDK 10 driver.
