garmanma
I'm stuck on stupid and getting ready to call it a night. The hard drive's going south quickly on my daughter's computer. I was hoping to do a fresh install of XP Pro on the new drive I'm going to get. So far they haven't found their disk. I do have their XP key written down in my records. Can I use my copy of XP Pro with their key?Mark
shanenin
You can, so long as their COA is for XP pro. A home key will not work with a XP pro cd. If your disk is a full or upgrade version, and she has an OEM xp pro key, you will have to modify the disc Edited March 9, 2007 by shanenin
garmanma
They're both XP Pro full installs. I installed it for them. The mistake I made was giving it back to them. I've been yelling at this kid to put things away since she could walk. With a baby on the way, she finaly realized she'd better get her house in order. The problem is she doesn't remember where she put everything.Mark

garmanma
Yeah, I'm more of a hardware guy than rooting around in the registry and so on. I know just enough to know I don't know enough Mark
