no it dosent work

with all other linux sys i did it manually

my ip address -gateway-subnet dns

but this hasent got any options like that

it has dial up facilaltys

but not cable ethernet

at least i cant find them

could it be done by the lan setting

isnt it ironical

all these years linux cant get a dial up going

but this one it is the oposite way round

i do have unutnu 6.10 and 6.6 comming

but ime dissapointed

\not being able to access this one as i like kde

but i will keep trying

i did have ubuntu 4.10 installed

but linux has stopped supporting the security up dates

and i cant risk it

i isnt to bad iether

my linux are changing their sys like changing your underpants these days

they want to get rid of firefox and mozzila

and go for their own sys

it is a good one

So you're running a fixed IP on your unit, marty? Not using DHCP? If you go into Control Center in KDE I see a place for Network settings. Like shanenin my network settings are handled by DHCP. Try it out marty, see what happens:-)

Use administrator mode when you do this:-)

You could also just do it manually by changing the config files.

http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/howto-ubuntu...figuration.html

You really only need to follow the directions as far as the step "Task: Define new DNS servers "

edit added later//

The gui tools also work great. They just automatically edit the files above for you. It is good to know the manual way of doing it also.

Yep, that'd work:-) marty will just need to know how to use vi or nano. Keep us posted, marty! :D

ide like thunderbird

but once i find how to configure k-mail

ile be ok

can thunderbird be installed from the

kubuntu

or the kde webpage

when i first installed KB

i searched for thunderbird

and installed it from the search

but it dissappeared from my sys

where the hell did it go

since then i had to reinstall

i notice it is on the cd

but once i installed KB

the applis didnt show up on the cd screen

how do i access from the cd

one thing i found is linux hates the cd rom

twice ive had to open the cdrom with a dam pin

by the way

i had to reinstall KB because i forgot my

admin password

is there any way round this

or do i have to live with it

and type the password to my forehead
