I got this IDE hard drive that uses a IDE-to-SATA adapter on my Asus M2N32 mobo. I also have a SATA HD connected to the board. One day I unplugged both drives from the mobo and later plugged them back in. Only the native SATA drive was recogniszd by the board. I tought that adapter was damaged and got a new one. Still the board will not recognize the IDE drive with the adapter. I also have another IDE drive so I put the adapter and the board will not recognize. I have not changed anything in the BIOS, just unplugged the drives. Anyone knows why???

Weird Problem Building New Pc
electrontau replied to electrontau's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
As stated in my original thread, the power supply is Antec NeoHE 430W. With no drives (just CPU, mouse, keyboard, memory, and video card) it will not POST. I replaced the mobo and cpu with identical ones and still it won't POST. -
I am upgrading my pc and these are the new parts asus m2n32-sli amd am2 x2 3800 ocz 2gb ddr2 6400 antec p-150 w/ neo he 430 psu bfg geforce 7600 video I am re-using the dvd/cd and hdd. With just the cpu, video card, and memory installed the computer runs without any problem. When I plug in the power to the hd or dvd the computer turns on for 1 second and shuts down. I also noticed that the mouse is not powered and neither is the keyboard. I've built my old system and upgraded it before and never experienced problem like this. Any idea??? Thanks.

I was told that all current video cards will not be compatible with directx 10 (when it comes out). Is this an accurate info? The reason is that I am upgrading my system and already have in mind a PCIe card, an expensive one.

Reparing Win Xp Home And No Xp Cd
electrontau replied to electrontau's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
The extra space is unallocated space, according to the XP CD. I wonder if there is any files in it! I hope that's sarcasm, but I'm not always good at reading things correctly Not a sarcasm. I really don't know what they do with this unallocated space. Companies like Dell and HP always have some hidden/unallocated space where , I suspect, put something in there. -

Reparing Win Xp Home And No Xp Cd

Because when I use the XP Pro CD to boot the computer, it shows an unpartitioned space of 12gb. I figured that that is where the computer builder put some of the files in there. The same thing happens to Dell, HP or Compaq computers. -
I am trying to fix a friend's computer that does not boot. It is a store bought computer and just recently moved to a new place so the CDs that came with computer is in some box. The computer will boot to the black background with "Windows XP Home" and the loading bar in the foreground. After that a blue appears for an instant and the system reboots. It is so fast that I cannot read what is written. Booting in Safe Mode does not help either. I believe some system file got corrupted or damaged. I don't have Windows XP home CD, just the Pro CD. If I try to use it to do the repair, it will try to
