  1. Thanks guys, worked just fine. I guess I should have just openeed it and popped it in to begin with.. THanks again
  2. Shouldn't be a problem, check the man. and pop it in the correct slot and you should be good to go. It is possible the modules dont work together(bad module), but cross that bridge IF you come to it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> To be honest with you I havent even opened the new memory up yet, because I dont want to have any problems with returning it. But I will move 1 256 into slot 3 and pop this into slot 1. We will see what happens, I will let you know.l Thanks
  3. Ok so single sided dimms they are..Didnt know they made those. Ok so my next question is will this double sided dimm work in this computer then?
  4. Yes correct part number, different than the one I gave. But when you select best buy from pnys website to purchase the above stated number it supersedes to the number best buy gave me.
  5. Ran that utility the above poster suggested and it defianlty says 4 DDR Dimms. These sticks in back, maybe im just stupid, look like simms.
  6. Sorry guys fell asleep after I posted. Everyone is right to an extent. I am sure the 2 sticks in my comp right now are simms. If the correct definition of a simm is ther is only one side of the stick with memory on it. There are currenty 2 empty slots in my comp right now. And there are 2 256 sticks in. I bought 1 512 stick. Now everywhere I have looked has shown the same thing that the above poster stated, no simms in recent years and this T6212 takes DDR400 Ram. Totally confused. Totally confident on Computer Model number, checked in system specs.. Edit: And yes its a desktop
  7. My wife was intersted in upgrading from 512 to a Gig and so we asked the man from best buy and he gave me a PNY 512 PC3200 Memory stick. Pny part number 6432WPDXA Manufacturer part number - D512MPC320PT Well I got home and opened up my comp and it had 2 256 Simm Sticks in there. Im guessing he gave me the wrong memory..Would I be correct in thinking this being that the memory he game me was 1 512 DImm? I really want to upgrade this comp but I didnt see any simms at best buy. I really dont want to spend an arm and a leg either. This stick was 50 bucks. ANy help would be appreciated
  8. SOrry. error message pops up after boot up. Currently running windows xp. Dont know error message off the top of my head. Its on someone elses comp and im at home right now.
  9. Bought a gforce 5700 VE / 256 DDR Installed it and everything seemed to work fine, started to play world of warcraft and the comp goes blank. Lights are still on, but monitor dead and fans dead. NOthing moving. I had to physically unplug power cord and plug back in, in order to restart. I double checked box for minimum requirements and I fit into them all. The only thing I might see as a concern is my power supply is 240v and Card requires 250. ANyone have any ideas
  10. Just wondering how I can disable this or if I even can..
  11. Ill just quote the message I get and if anyone can help me that would be great.. "Alert! Previous Fan Failure. Strike the F1 key to continue. F2 to run setup utility." I have nver seen that error before. My dads comp is all messed up. Also after booting up, I noticed he is getting a script error message. When I reboot I will copy that one down too. But any help is appreciated.
  12. actually you know what it was? my firewall program was conflicting with something...anyways i removed firewall and worked fine after that..of coures I downloaded a newer version..
  13. ...And I still cannot connect to the internet with this computer. Like I said earlier my power went out for two days and when it came back on I could only connect with one of my two comps. I was getting a 169.xxx Ip address, which im being told that it is a false address. Later Iwas told that could mean that my nic was fried. I just bought a new nic and installed it and the same ip address is popping up and still I cannot connect to the internet. Is my motherboard friend possibly? Everything else, I mean EVERTHING, works just find on this comp. Just cant connect to internet. Any suggestions?
