  1. I have an audigy 4 sound card. After doing everything on the creative site and more I'm at a loss as to how to fix this problem. I get a cracking/popping noise out of my speakers while playing any type of audio. I have a gateway comp FX440XL 3.2ghs processer, 4gb mem and windows XP media edition. All is up to date.

A list of what I have done.

    1. Verified that it wasn't a speaker issue. Speakers are fine

    2. Returned the audigy 4 sound card and repleaced it. same problem

    3. Updated driver

    4. Removed driver and updated from scratch

    5. Updated Bios

    6. Updated chipset

    7. Changed latency

    8. Decreased speed and volume

    9. Did everything on creative site

    10. Changed slots on the computer

    11. Went in BIOS and turned off onboard Audio

Anyone have a suggestion or something I can try>

    THanks

  3. I'm using a linksys WRT54GS with spedbooster router. I have done several things so far to make my home network secure. This is what I have done so far.

    1. I have a unique name for my network, changed from the default one.

    2. I have filtered my Mac addresses, permitting just the Mac addresses I have.

    3. SSID, I hid this so it can't be seen by others

    4. WPA, set and very difficult passsword

    5. Last, I changed the router password.

My question, I heard I should clone/spoof my MAC Address also. I just can't seem to figure this out, can anyone assist me in doing this? I'm also looking for any else I can do to make my network as secure as possible.

What is a port? and how do I find this?

  4. I checked the settings and rechecked the settings. They are good. This is an account that was working fine now for about one year. I called the provider and checked my information with them.. It test fine when I hit the test button. It appears I may have to reload office and maybe try that.

  5. I'm using windows XP home with all required updates. Norton anivirus. I can send emails but I cant receive emails. I tested the account and all was good. It isn't comcast the provider. I turned off the firewalls and disabled norton. Any ideas on what this could be? Spybot have some thing that could be doing this>?

    Thanks

  6. I have a few wireless netwrok questions. I have xp Home with all updates. My router is a links model wrt54gs.

First I dont understand how to use the SSID at all. I know that this deals with my network name and its purpose is to hide the name but for the life of me I cant figure this out.

Mac Address, what is this and how do I know what to set up to make my network more secure. Thanks for helping me out

  7. The best VNC program (and ive used Real, Tight, Windows w/e) is UltraVNC, it is extremly easy to setup and a quick download. Be sure to set it up on your dads (allow it though the firewall, start on startup so on and so forth). I wouldnt use the windows one because if theres ever a day when you need to do it with linux... then you will be familyar with a program and you wont have to migrate.

The link for UltraVNC is http://ultravnc.sourceforge.net

  8. This is what I owuld like to do if it is possible.. Everytime I go home and quite often my dad will call me to fix his computer. Sometimes this has to wait untill I go home for a visit. Is there a safe way I can connect to hi computer and take over control to fix the problems as they arise? If so what do I need to do and what does he need to do at his end.. Thank
