    Hjt Log

Howzit B, Sorry, I also misunderstood what you meant, but have done what you said. So here's the HJT Log. The spyware Coulomb has disappeared, and I've got the latest AVG and don't seem to see the virus Java/ByteVerify. Does that mean everything's okay now. If so, is there anything I need to reinstate? If I recall correctly, the Windows Restore feature was disabled? Thanks and regards, Auriga Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.0 Scan saved at 9:56:05 PM, on 17/01/2005 Platform: Windows XP (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 (6.00.2600.0000) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe
  2. Can someone please explain if the following is correct- Within the last week I've noticed that both the Internet Connection Status and Local Area Connection Status dialog boxes show that about 9,000 bytes per second is sent and approx two thirds of that, i.e. about 6,000 bytes per second is being received. My question is: what is causing this when I'm not downloading or sending anything and is this condition okay? I am connected to the Internet via a WAG54G Linksys Gateway. Thanks

Thanks B, Did the R3 fix, but the other 2 optional fixes didn't work - the first link I downloaded but don't know where to put it and the 2nd link came up with "The page cannot be found". For the rest, here's the HJT log, Regards, Auriga Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.0 Scan saved at 11:35:25 PM, on 9/01/2005 Platform: Windows XP (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 (6.00.2600.0000) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.e
  4. Hi, can I please get some advice on how to deal with this phantom virus. I have AVG anti-virus software running in the background and it started this week again to pick up the virus "Java/ByteVerify". However, after scanning with AVG a number of times, each time it fails to locate the virus and tells me my system is clean. What should I do?

  9. Thanks for the replies. I used Adaware, but not in safe mode. I don't have A-Squared or Spyware Blaster, but do have Spybot S&D 1.3 which doesn't even pick it up. I have AVG anti-virus software running (it did pick up ByteVerify virus, but it disappeared and I'm not sure if it's been dealt with or not and I couldn't locate the file which AVG pointed to at the time). I also had Zone Alarm running at the time, up until last week after Linksys advised me I didn't need it with my WAG54G Gateway as it has it's own firewall. Operating system is Windows XP Pro, but haven't got latest service pa
  10. Please help me to get rid of Coulomb malware. A member of my family 'caught' this malware and it's a nuisance. Ad-Aware removes it, but not permanently, so I presume it's in the registry? Thanks Auriga
