  1. Friday I found out that 2 of my entries won Silver Awards!!!!!! I am so happy:) Here are my 2 pieces.

Funny part is my teacher said to my friend. "I don't know why Grady is bothering putting the fight for your rights one. Its his money. If it does win, we obivously don't know how to judge these things."

So when I see him Tuesday I am sure going to live it up :) He even didn't show up to the show! :( Oh well, the other teacher did show though! Yay Susan! So it worked out :)

  2. I love tornadoes. I love reading about them, studying them. I've probably been studying them since ooo since I was 11. And I am 21 now. They have always fascniated me and I really want to see one up close. I hope one day to put use this storm chasing to good use. While I'll have a 2meter radio in the car, I hope I can do more then just sit and watch the twister do its thing. I am going to look into responder teams, to search survivors. I want to help with cleanup and helping people get back on their feet if they're hit by the storm. I remeber a lot I'd call my friends up telling them to get into the basement and warning them on the approaching storm.

I am really looking forward next spring. And I hope I can make a difference :)- Grady

  3. I decided to take on a new project before spring arrives. Project: Razors Edge (after Saliva's song) into a storm chasing vehicle. :) I couldn't find the right place to talk about this so I stuck it in open chat. What I have planned so far is to redo the roof lining (its falling down) in my car, and after that, add a 2 meter radio (I'm KB9WEC). A IBM thinkpad t21 notebook (for tracking weather on radar and programming the 2m radio). I also was thinking about adding a few cameras (this may be after this year). But I am also upgrading my 35mm camera equipment. Hopefully I'll have pictures as the project progresses to show what I am doing:) I am excited about it and I think this will turn into a cool project along with keeping me and my friend out of trouble as long possibliy save lives (if I don't get hurt first lol). We'll see! - Grady

  4. I guess its my turn.

I'm 21. I go to Ivy Tech State college, learning Computer networking. Also a displaced techtv member/chat host/board host. Don't worry, I am no longer a host, so I no longer enforce rules ;). I am also in midst of becoming a storm chaser. I will begin a project to outfit my car with chasing gear:) I am looking forward to chase season. In mean time I hang out on the computer, learning as much as I can about both pc and mac platforms. I have 2 cats. Little Pretty and Fred. 1 bird name Louie, hes a Normal American Gray Cockiteal. I am also into graphic designing and photography. Speaking of that,I'll be attending an award ceremony next Friday, Dec 3. for an award on my Life on the Rails piece, or Fight for your Rights piece. I am hoping for both :) Other then that, thats me! - Grady

  5. Mine came from a friend who is from Austria. She always would refer to me as her familiar. "one who watches over someone". And it stuck to me, so I took the German version of it and walle came up with DasFamiliar :) - G

P.S. you may not see it here, but on other boards you'll defintly see it :)

  6. Hello gang,

Say, I have my friends Inspirion for a while, and he wanted me to get his hardrive out so he can get his data off of it. It died, wont' even power on. And I got the hardrive out, but it has been sitting here for a while (I keep forgetting to take it back to him). But I got to playing with it, and I used my dad's multimeter on the powersupply. I tested it and I got no completed ground on it. I think this is cause of the problem of his dead laptop. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem?

Model: inspirion 4150. not sure of the specs. But , I try fiddling with the power supply, and I got the light on the laptop to come on for a split second. And a few times with the multimeter. If so, which I'm 99 percent sure this is what is wrong with it, I think he'll just be out of $50 (for a new power supply). I just wanted to give a heads up to see if anyone else had any ideas. Thank you! - Grady

  7. I defintly love going after storms:)

As next year approaches, I am going to be searching more into first responds programs. I mainly want to get into weather related ones. Maybe storm spotting? I'll find them out :) I'm even going to take more pics this time around! :) We'll see what happens! - Grady

  8. But I was wondering how many watches storms? I do, I am ready for Storm Season 2005 to be honest :) hehe. I need to get my internal clock readjusted.

I guess it has to do a lot with this year. In late may, twice I came close to seeing a tornado. Even though on the first one, I didn't get to see the actual funnel, I saw the actual storm cell and it was massive. I came over a hill in Jeffersonville, Indiana where you could over look a rock quary. What I saw was amazing, it was like a black wall was put behind the quary. I never seen anything like it, and at the same time lightning was striking so fast and so wicked that I just couldn't believe it. And at the time, I was driving anywhere, I was really driving following the storm. But I had to stop around 8 pm edt, because it was just getting to dark and too dangerous to be out (we had another cell coming in right behind that one) so I headed home.

It wasn't until 3 days later, another system came in. I was @ work @ Sears. And they stopped everything and had everyone evacuate to the break room. I missed the 1st passed, but I asked my boss if I could go watch the storm. He said ok, and I went out. But before I went out th edoor I grabed a radio so I can stay in contact with my boss. As I headed out, it wasn't no more than 5 seconds I turned to my right and saw the wall cloud. My co worker right behind paniced and started yelling tornado. Annoyed, I told my other co worker it wasn't one...yet. About 5 mins later as it crossed Hwy 31, I saw the wall cloud dropped a funnel. My other co worker and I just watched as it became wrapped in my ram. I told my boss on the radio. "Okay, NOW we do have a tornado." Even though I couldn't see it, I felt the wind heading in the same direction as the tornado, and I just knew it had touched down. 2 mins more passed and I heard the radio "Okay, everyone inside now. The tv said the weather service has issued a tornado warning for Exit 4. I don't know if you know, but WE'RE EXIT 4!" Even though the situation was serious, I couldn't help but laughed at the way his message came out. But I didn't waste time getting inside.

After the storm passed we're fine, no one injured. It was near closing time so I asked my boss if I could go home and check on my family. He said it was cool so I left. As I was driving home, I turned on the radio and heard about Marengo, Indiana. I quickly wanted to drive home quickly asi I could to check on the family, then proceed to Marengo to help. But I quickly nod it off knowing if I even made it up there, I would be turned away by the Police.

But next year, I am hopnig to get more invovled with such areas of civil defense, so when I do get to see the tornado I've been waiting to see. I can also turn and help anyone affected by it. People think people like me are nuts. But we never want see anyone hurt by these forces of nature. But we do try to help who we can if they are people who are hurt.

I hate to cut this short, but I gtg to work. I'll finish this up when I get home! - Grady

  9. Ty hitest! I wonder what happened to you all :) I decided to go back to Leoville and I talked to thesidekickcat, and she told me about here. So I came!:)

Btw, since after my mia. I've been into graphic design more and computers. I am hoping to have a gallery of my work soon! I just need to get some time to work on it :(. But I'll get there!

    Ooo I love coffehouses!:) - G

  10. Only thing I can say, that the song "So Cold" by Breaking Benjamin kind of explains how I feel.

After all I've seen on both sides of G4, I don't expect to see ttv elements around anymore.

Btw, anyone heard from Casey Quinn? I've been trying to get a hold of him but haven't seen him since the switch :(

I'll see everyone around, take care. - G

P.S. I am no longer a moderator in any shape or form for G4Techtv anymore. I am just your average computer geek joe.
