  1. Thanks very much for all your help and no, that was not too much reading, it was very interesting. I bought this G3 from a friend... I'll see what I can do about the CDS, I hope he did not lose them.

This is my first mac, I found it very entertaining that I could crash it by a push of a button.... but I also know that macs have the "reputation" of being much more stable than PCs... so I'll give it a second shot :) .

    Thanks so much once again!

  2. Wow, your good! I just bought this G3 and the previous owner did not give me any OSX CDs. As far as what OSX it is, no ideas there :(. When I boot up the machine it freezes on a grey screen with an apple in the backround. I have an external floppy drive, can I make a floppy that can reboot it?

I have no idea what the model number is, where could I find it? I see the ethernet # and the serieal #.

  3. Hi, My question is very simple, last night while I was playing some music, I hit a small button under the power button on my g3 powermac. It shut off immediately, and now when I try to turn the thing on, I get an error message and it does nothing. It does not even load into OSX! I am very confused in what I should do.... any ideas?

    Thanks!

This is what the error message says:

System Failure: cpu=0; code=00000001 (Corrupt Stack)

    Latest crashinfo for CPU 0:

    Exception state (sv=0x15A38A00)

PC = 0x (the numbers go accross the screen, and then, it says in brackets (System Failure))

backtrace terminated - frame not mapped or invalid: 0xFFFFFF20

    proceding back via exception chain

    Exception state (sv=0x15A38A00)

(whole bunch of code again) (System Failure)

backtrace terminated - frame not mapped or invalid: 0x00000040

    Exception state (sv=0x15A38A00)

    Kernel version:

    Darwin Kernel Version 7.0.0:

    Wed Sep 24 15:48:39 PDT 2003; root:xnu/xnu-517.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC

    ----------------------------------

And this screen just stays there... I have OS 9.2.2 on the mac's HD somewhere, if only I could get that OS going.... any ideas? Think the mac is shot?
