iccaros: I'm curious as to which VIA system(s) have hardware mpeg4 decoding. I used a M10000 with a 1GHz chip for a while. It played DVDs great but stuttered on most mpeg4 video. I've also tried VLC's "on the fly" encoding, but it seemed very slow, and had poor quality, being barely watchable on a standard def TV... I speak only from my own experiences with this but if iccaros could get it working with that kind of a system, I've no doubt that it's possible. Over a reasonable distance, you certainly could. 802.11b has a maximum theoretical throughput of 11Mbps but degrades as distance from the source increases. For video, you'll most likely have to reencode the videos into a format that supports streaming such as VP7 http://www.on2.com/downloads/vp7-personal/ or WMV 9. Depending on your source video, you can probably encode up to 2Mbps over a fair distance, which is still quite good qualitywise. I have a legit copy of XP Home upgrade and was kind of annoyed that MS put something else unnecessary on my system that can't be uninstalled (that'll teach me to blindly install critical updates!) so I just went into the system32 folder and replaced Wgalogon.dll with another MS dll that doesn't do anything in particular, set it to read only, and rebooted. No more wgacheck.exe (or w/e it's called) in the task manager! I installed the program and rebooted and get 5 or 6 blue screens saying "Cannot write to drive C:" or "Cannot write files to drive C:" and one other blue screen and it shut itself down (press any key to reboot but instead shut off). On the next boot, I selected safe mode and it booted into a blinking cursor and refused to do anything. After restarting, it is working. With those errors, I'm not sure if the program completed or not... Very nice! PG2 actually quits now on shutdown. 4 for 4 shutdowns have worked speedily since then and no problems logging of from one account and logging on to another (PG2 used to crash and I'd have to use pgfix). Definitely a Windows expert, many thanks TT_75!

hmmm... That's really not what I wanted to hear. I do remember that it used to run much cooler when I first got it but now my northbridge fan and PSU's intake fan are on the way out as well. The NB fan has seized a couple times already in the past year... I've built plenty of systems in the past but this is the only one that wants to crap out on me and after only 2 years =/

Thanks. I've been using SpywareBlaster ever since Spybot recommended it. I haven't had shutdown issues when I was using SystemSuite 4 or 5 but the latest version conflicts with so many programs it's unusable... AVG+Sygate just doesn't cut it as well as the old SS did. Is there any way perhaps to change the shutdown function to run a program before shutdown (without using a batch)? I could then use pskill and terminate PG2 before Windows attempts to shutdown. There's plenty of "run at boot" but I haven't seen a good "run before shutdown" that I can use the normal shutdown button with.
