deaf_girl
Is there any difference in performance running 2 sticks of 1GB of RAM and 4 sticks of 512MB of RAM.The reason I ask is because I'm not sure if I can afford 2GBs right now. I was thinking 2x512MB now and another 2x512MB later.Or just buy 1 stick of 1GB and another matching one later
IEatHardDrives
A 1GB stick is fine unless you wont run the ram in dual channel mode then get 2x512 but I cant tell a difference between single and dual channel.
Mainter
No, you would not notice a difference in performance between 2 1GB and 4 512MB modules. If your system is a dual channel system and you don't install in matched pairs, you will lose about 10% performance.
