Very Scary Situation

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone

I just want to say this to you all to make sure you're all aware that this can happen to ANYONE...

My 12 y/o neice was 1/2" away from being abducted by some 28 y/o guy who...apparently has been stalking her for some time.

She had noticed this guy many times at the same places she's been at, mall, around school,..etc, and she thought it may be more than a coincidence....it was.

Wed. evening, this guy approached her at the mall while she was by herself, her friends were in the food court while she went to a store to look around. He told her that he was looking for models and wanted to take her picture for a portfolio, and asked her to come out to his van to get her picture taken. She said No, of course, and he then grabbed at her and tried to take her out a back door.

She screamed and a security guard heard her, along with some others, and they subdued the guy. She told the police when they came that she has seen this guy hanging around for a couple of months now, and that she thinks he's been following her. Well, they got a search warrant to search his apartment and sure enough, he had pictures of her at various places, many at her school, and had apparently been planning to take her for some time.

He is being charged with attempted abduction of a minor child, and whatever else they can think of, but the problem is that he's not going to get much time unless they can prove he's mentally ill and hold him that way.

My neice is very special to me, and if this guy ever gets free and gets within 100 miles of her ever again, I'll kill him with my bare hands....damn the consequences.

Let this be a warning to all of you...It CAN happen!

Teach your kids to be watchful of people around them, she's only here because she had noticed him before and was wary of him already, she never let him get close enought to really grab her and get control quickly. He had waited till she walked past the back entrance where he could get her out quickly and possibly unnoticed. Remind your kids to keep a distance away from strangers who stop them to ask something, we don't want them to be paranoid or so freaked out they don't step out of the house, but we have to remind them to always be careful.

never hurts to remind them of the dangers out there. I completely agree with the sentiment about killing him. Its wrong that people like that aren't put away for a very long time.

Its good your neice is ok and unharmed Chappy. Yes we have to remind them(our children) of the dangers of people like this. Even when we lived in a small town a couple years ago we still reminded our girls that these kind of dangers are not in cities only.

These predators really make me sick!!!!

Just to say again Chappy....its good that your neice is ok.

I also want to say "I'm glad your niece is fine".

Yes, the problem is getting worse all the time. And your niece was very smart to know the danger and to take action by screaming. I'm very glad this was done at a place where she was heard.

But I will tell you Chappy, If this jerk does get to close, and you do have to step in to.......Solve the problem.

I will go out of my way to help you. Any way I can. That's a promise!!!

We need stiffer laws for people like that. And I can think of a few things I'd like to do to jerks like that.

It just burns me up when I hear these jerks getting away with little or no action taking against them.

Oh, my gosh, Chappy! How scary! Thank God she had the good sense to scream and especially Thank God for the folks who didn't ignore her screams, they are true heroes. I hope that guy gets put away for a very long time and I certainly hope your niece is psychologically ok. Sure wouldn't hurt for her to get some counseling, as that sounds like a very traumatic experience, especially since that perv has been stalking her for a long time (even if she does insist she is ok, after affects sometimes take months to show up, talk to her parents about counseling! We wouldn't want her to lose her trust in the entire human race). I'm so happy she is safe.

My God, Chappy!!

What a horrible situation for your neice to live through! I feel the same way as you! If anyone tried to hurt my 11 year old daughter I would take him apart, bare- handed. I coach my girl to be aware of mentally unstable people, your story helps to illustrate the dangers that exist.

I certainly hope that your neice has not suffered any lasting trauma from this disturbing episode!

Same here Chappy, glad your niece is OK.

Too much of this going on now, or maybe it's just being recognized that it

is a problem. These creeps get a slap on the wrist, and promise to

check in. Yeah right. They get out and are long gone on to their next victim.

I get so angry at our judicial system, letting these people out, and try to say they are

rehabilitated and are of no danger to the community.

We have to change the "laws". You have people convicted with possession of an

illegal substance, and get 20yrs. You are a sex offender, some only pay a fine and are

back on the street. The law says they have to register as a sex offender, and of course

they don't.

Nothing happens until they kill an innocent child. That is wrong.

Take care of her Chappy, as I know you will. Counceling does sound like a good idea.

I don't know what the hell people think anymore, but it's a shame. Glad to hear everything is ok. I hope they lock the Bast*** up for life. If they only slap this freak on the wrist, it could be a matter of time before he strikes again, and that would be terrible.

They have em in custy, lets only hope the law will do the right thing.

Oohh, man, Chappy. That is real scary. You're right about the lack of real punishment for these creeps.

Alisha Ann Boyer, 29, of Lay Boulevard, was sentenced by Lamb to court costs for child abuse in May 2004 in Kalamazoo Township.
Court costs????
Jamar McCall, 26, of Elgin, Ill., was sentenced by Schma to five years of probation, six months in jail with credit for one day served and six months in jail subject to review at the end of probation for criminal-sexual conduct in October 2004 in Portage.

6 months????

How can society keep control of these predators if all they get is a slap? I say "hang 'em high" We need to a better job of protecting our children. And punishing those who prey on them.

There are many freaks in this world. I don't let my great-niece walk around the malls or anyplace else unless she is accompanied by an adult or friends. It is too easy to grab someone when alone. You also have to beware of who they are communicating with online. There was an Amber alert here for a sixteen year old girl. They found her with a 22 year old guy she met online, shacked up in a motel with plans on running away with him.

Thank God all is well, and she is fine. That is ultimately the most important thing.

Thats why we need to take friends with us when we're out in public anymore. My friends just happen to be Dan Wesson, Berretta (not Robert Blake either), Colt, and a few lesser known. I have had the law called on me twice for "packing", and both times nothing happened due to the laws. It was in plain sight (NOT conceiled), in a holster and not being brandished.

Note to Mod(s): I am not advocating violence. I do however propigate self-defense and defense of our children. I do believe in assisting our overworked and under paid law enforcement whose hands have been tied.

Chappy I am so glad your niece didn't get snatched. So scary that our kids can't even be safe in a public place like that. But thankfully this time there were people who ran to her rescue when she screamed.

Unfortunately not everyone pays attention to kids screaming. I caution the neighborhood kids against overdoing the screams, warning them that after awhile I get tired of getting up to look out to make sure they are ok and just playing. But even after telling them to cool the screams unless needing help, I still try to check on them because it only takes a minute for someone to grab them into a car. It would break my heart if anything happened to them.

I would like all kids to be trained in martial arts of some sort, forget teaching them games such as soccer, or doing regular PE, skip recess etc, but do give the kids training in how to protect themselves from this scary world. So many kids are home alone before and after school, and walking to and from school sometimes long distances too, and riding public transportation buses, light rail etc where all sorts of people can be watching where they get on and off to follow them or stalk them etc. We (metro area) have several ongoing cases of kids walking to school and being approached by guys in cars, even some attempts to drag kids into car/van. And a new one this week where a woman tried to grab a little 8 (I think) yr old girl. She said no, and ran away, luckily the woman didn't follow.

As for what to do with these animals who would dare to do harm to our kids, the idea of retailiating with family/friend/neighbor vengence works for me!!! They say when training an animal, to punish as close to the time of the wrong doing as possible!!! I agree!!!

Thank God Chappy that she is safe. But be on the watch for when that creep gets out of jail that he doesn't come back to 'get even' with her for being arrested. That has happened here in the past.

Also another warning about an awful pervert thing that has happened in our area several times in last few years. Creeps with cell phone cameras or digital cameras, doing a pretend drop of camera to floor in stores where girls shop to do pictures up their skirts. Wasn't even illegal here until one store's security camera caught the guy doing it repeatedly. So last legislature they had to do a law against it so the rats can be charged with a crime. Same thing in Washington state, they also had to add a law against it. And of course there is the longtime problem of cameras hidden in dressing rooms/rest rooms etc. And I have heard and read local police detectives warning to not put kids' pictures on any public place on the internet, even your own website, as some 'bots' are looking to add them to porn sites... photoshopped in ways never meant by the software company I'm sure. Such a sick world we live in.

As for the registered sex offender lists, our far out liberal state just got the list up this summer or fall. We were like 47th or 48th state to finally do it. The reasoning was it might violate the offenders rights, now the list is only for repeat offenders, not those 'innocent' first timers. Our state motto used to be something like "things look different here". They should have stuck with it, since it is so true.

Stay safe folks, and protect the kids too.

Pat.

God bless everyone.

He's out on bail....we have no idea why the judge allowed that, but our family and friends have a 24 hr watch on him, since the police cannot.

I've been on watch most of the day and her dad is taking tonite along with another friend.

I'll be back there tomorrow for 6 hrs, and some of my friends have volunteered their time too, so we'll make sure he goes nowhere near her.....ever.

We're appealing his release using the Dangerous Offender law, hoping to have another judge order him held on his arraignment on Tuesday, until trial date. He's just too unstable to have walking around, if he's out then Micah is basically a prisoner at home. Why should she pay for his problem, but if he stays out we'll keep watch on hm for as long as needed.

Wow Chappy...

Truly upsetting news. Really sickening to hear this carbuncle is roaming around. What were they thinking? What must your niece think?

How terrible for her. And also you. The emotions you all must be experiencing right now....i pray never to have to know them.

i feel so bad wondering what must be going on in her head at this time. Dave has your niece ever taken a self defense course? i don't know... Just really sorry to hear you and yours have to experience a thing like this!

Wow, that certainly was a scary situation. I am so very, very glad she was aware enough to prevent a scary situation from turning into a dangerous or, heaven forbid, a tragic one.

It's a shame we have to balance teaching kids self-preservation without completely taking away their innocence.

No words man no words...but for the safety of your neice and everyone elses children, including the whole family tree...the best thing is awareness...education...responsibilty, all of which your neice demonstrated...keep our children out of harms way by giving them the weapons to defend...knowledge that it can happen, just teach them so when (and if) it does, they'll be ready...

Chappy, can Micah (beautiful name, by the way) have a Personal Protection Order (where he has to stay a certain amount of feet away from her) put on this clown? Don't know if such a thing exists in Canada.
