Partition Size

Im formatting a new drive should I just make it one partition or two partition one partition just for the os and another partition for everything else.

it is probably a good idea to have your data on a seperate partition. In the future if you need to reinstall windows, all of your data will be seperate.

Should I make the partition for the OS like 10GB.

The best minimum partition size for WinXP is 15- 20GB. This gives it room to grow as Microsoft keeps adding updates for it.

Well, I'm not a fan of the OS partition anymore.

It's really just not neccessary to reinstall windows 2000/XP that much anymore.

If you need to reinstall the OS, you have to reinstall all the applications as well, so just back up your data to a CD-RW or flash drive, maybe keep an image of a basic OS install, ie windows, office, other vital software you have, most drivers (I leave out video drivers, they're updated so often you'll do that on a clean install anyway), that sort of thing.

I always create a partition for my photos, documents and other files just in case the OS becomes corrupted. Anyone who thinks that 2k or XP can't crash hasn't been seeing all of the complaints at the different tech boards in the past few years.
