In other words the install CD will check itself to see if it is okay to use to install Ubuntu 8.04. If that check fails then you need to re-burn your disk image at a lower rate, marty.The package manager will have a button where you can select to upgrade to 8.04. That is a reasonable, safe upgrade in my opinion. Back-up your data prior to the upgrade in case things don't upgrade properly. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

martymas Posted July 20, 2008 Author Report Share Posted July 20, 2008 one of my problems is ive used windows for so many yearsit is hard to think outside the squarebut ime getting therei like ubuntu 7.10but i needed to move with the timesi have dual booted with windowsbut once ime able to work out ubuntu ile delete windowsas i have two compts ime have the scope to learn you mention the help files are in the boot up if i was to install 8.4as a stand alone i need to check the memory ectwhat other options do i haveime not sure but i think i can handle ubuntu 8.4 as a stand alone if i cant ile be back here thanks for both of you for your help appreciatedmarty Quote Link to post Share on other sites
