Hi and I would like to know a program or programs that can help me eliminate some of the processes that are currently running on my computer when I boot it up.

I have something like 37 processes and I realize that those are not all necessary and at one time, I had a program or application that suggested which ones were necessary on boot up and those that were not.

If any of you know the link to a program or programs that accomplish what I am asking, please give me the name or a link to that program Thanks in advance for any help or answers given.

Hi Jer and welcome to Besttechies!! Look here (click) for the gadget you want--folks recommend Codestuff Starter and Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel for ease of use.

I must admit I've never used these gadgets (I have hardly anything on my computer...it's a "mommy computer":) email and surfing...) but the experts here will chime in with any tips if needed.

And another point for the experts to chime in on--I don't *think* 37 processes isn't in the realm of too many, from what I've read. But it never hurts to slim things down if you can.

Hi Jer,

Liz (blim) is correct, 37 processes isn't really a lot at all. In fact, it's a small number. I assume you are running Windows XP? Right now, on my Vista Ultimate machine I am running 82 processes.

Any particular processes you were looking to eliminate? If so, list the ones you were considering as unnecessary and I will let you know if you need them or not. B)
