The rest of the specs between the two are for the most part the same. 4GB of Ram, 320GB HD, Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS. and dedicated video cards.
The Intel gives you the choice of a (Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD or 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS for the Intel. (Not sure which to get)

The AMD system which has a ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics.
There's about a hundred to one fifty differences between the Intel and AMD models. I also heard that AMD's run hotter than the Intel.

I'm in the process of ordering a new laptop from Costco. They let you custom order HP's and it comes with a free 2yr warranty and still cheaper than Best Buy. My problem is, I'm not sure if I should go with intel or AMD. I know everyone's going to say go with intel but the AMD is cheaper. This is going to be used for work and watching videos, no gaming.
The two CPU's I'm thinking of are:
AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor ZM-80 (2.1 GHz)
or
Intel® Core2 Duo Processor T6400 (2.0GHz)
I've tried looking for info on comparing them but can only find old data (2005-2007). Nothing current. Is there going to be differences in performance between the 2?
I'd really like your advice on this. Thanks

Your best bet would be to partition your internal hard drive and install Windows there.

It's possible that the lens is dirty. You could try a Laser Lens Cleaner. You can get one at Walmart or Best Buy.

What OS are you using?
I think you need more RAM, at least 512MB for XP.

Yes IMO, Firefox is better than IE and Opera. It's fully customizable with add-ons and themes. It seems to be the fastest too.

Just out of curiosity, Is the PSU dead and your wanting to replace if or are you planning to upgrade components in the PC. If It's the second, go with a stronger PSU.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000t laptop with 2GB of RAM, Nvidia 7400. I'm trying to do a fresh install but I keep running into problems.
I have tried with the recovery partition and the recovery DVD discs. I keep getting errors during the installation. These are some of the errors.
1) Windows could not parse the unattended answer file for pass [specialize]. The settings specified in the answer file cannot be applied. The error was detected while processing settings for component [Microsoft-Windows-Deployment].
2) The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click O.K. To restart the computer and then restart the installation.
When these come up the mouse is dead, the cursor won't move.
3) Error 1005, If issue continues contact HP Support.
I've tried google with no luck, any ideas?
I tried installing one more time and it worked. 5th times a charm.

I have XP on my desktop and Vista on my laptop. I've never really had a problem with Vista but it is slower and heavier on the resources.
Vista looks cool but I still like the old familiar XP

you should run the HijackThis and post the logs. See if one of the experts can see whats going on.

I used Panda for a while and never really had any problems. I'm currently using ESET Nod32 and have to say I really like it. It's lightweight and hasn't let any thing in.
I think Newegg is selling the OEM version for $20.00 right now
