I recently purchased a sony dvdrw and i have been enjoying it thus far. Except i have ran into a problem just now. It seems that when i insert a disc it will no longer autoplay it. Even though i have enabled the autoplay features in xp options. Windows wont either recognize a blank cd, even though when i start nero it reads a blank disc and then im able to burn files to the disc. I think that this may have been caused when i installed and then uninstalled clonecd and anydvd from slysoft, but i aint sure. I have the latest firmware version, and my drive is a sony dru-710a. any help will be a

Oh thanx for that screi i missed that! I see that you have this burner as well. Have you updated your firmware to BY02 or to anything else? What media have you been using that works well, for both cd-rs and dvd+/-r?

Hello once again all , I have purchased the sony dru-710a, and I didnt feel like this simple question deserves a new thread. Well anyways, I dont know if other burner manufactures have this or not, but my dvd burner has a thing called TurboBoost. In the manual it says that by holding the eject button for 5 secs., it will suddenly change the write and read speed of cd-rs from 40X to 48X. My question is that if i hold that eject button to change the speeds, will i be able to change the speeds back to 40X? I dont want to try it until i know that i can revert the changes back.

I dont know where I was suppose to put this so ill just post it here. Ive been sending messages that i type up myself to various friends. When they are expecting the messages, they dont see them in their inbox. So i go and tell them to check their spam folders, and there they show up! This has happened with yahoo and hotmail. Anyone know why this might be happening? I dont like this, because gmail is now my main email account and i dont want people to delete my messages because it shows up in their spam folder.

Hello all, Im looking for a music organizer. I have tried a few, but they are too complicated. Right now I have media monkey, and I find it rather too complicated as well. I just want to organize my music, into simple folders perhaps. If you guys know of any music organizers that are really easy to use and do the things that just organize and not anything else I would appreciate it if could recommend that program. Well, you pretty much have to know about each specific game to know whether or not they charge. I myself do know what games charge and what dont . I cant list them for you because theres like 300+ games on the ps2's library lol. Only games that do charge are once again games that involve many players on one server. Almost all online shooters dont charge, sport games dont charge, etc. If you need help whether certain games do charge or not you can PM me or just post here.

There is no fee to play online ps2 games. But some games such as final fantasy and such do charge. But most games are free to play online.

Cool, I have yet another question. Is there a way to find out if a xp home edition key has been used? I have a couple of cd keys and I dont remember if I used them or not.

Will THIS do for the ide cable? So should I do another reformat after installing my new drive when I get it? Will it mess up the drive?

Hahahahaa that sure stinks dont it? Well I have another question here so bare with me. First let me give some background infomation. I recently did a reformat and I deleted all partitions including my compaqs recovery system thingy. Well in the process of copying the files from the xp cd, my drive quit on me. (hence the buying of a new dvd drive). So when I finally got xp up and running I quickly noticed problems with it. Long story short I want to do another reformat. Well since my current drive doesnt work, I was wondering if I can install my new dvd drive (when I purchase it), and then do

Thanks for that link handplane. Now if I am getting this right, minus discs can only be writtened once? So minus discs cant be mulitsession? So if I want to keep adding data to a dvd disc (without removing any data) plus discs are right for me?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have pretty much decided to purchase the lite on drive. I have perhaps one final question that needs answering. I know its a simple question, but I dont understand it. I have poked around google and other sites but I dont quite understand the different media type discs. What exactly is the difference between -(minus) and +(plus) media? Which one is best? Which do you guys recommend?

Price is not the issue, although I have narrowed it to 2 drives I just need to know whether the rosewill drive burns dual layered discs. And any thoughts of this drive would be great. hahahaa and just to add, on ebay the price is a couple dollars higher on the rosewill drive. EDIT#2: I guess the rosewill does burn to dual layered discs? See HERE?

Cool, I will probably end up buying the lite on drive. But now I have stumbled upon another drive. This Rosewill drive, but I cant figure out if it does in deed burn dual layered discs. And seeing this drive is a couple dollars more than the lite on drive, I might as well go with this one right? But does it burn dual layer?

Well I have finally decided that I am going to replace my non working cd-rom drive with a new dvd burner. But where to begin?!? I have never installed a drive before, and I have only installed memory sticks, and a video card. But I am willing to learn by installing one of these suckers. This is why its in beta and not retail yet huh! lol Well I'm just curious if anyone else cant seem to update avg 7.0 in one actual try. It cant find a connection or it cant download the file it found, hahahaa oh well I will still test out this product and I hope they release the retail version soon.

Thanks for the reply, I will buy a cd drive cleaning kit when I visit an electronics store next time, although I doubt cleaning it even more will make it work. As for the sony specific driver, I have searched through driverguide.com and I have not found any specific driver for my crx215E5 but I have seen drivers for all sony models. But it needs to boot something from a floppy diskette, and it gets rather complicated. You think doing this will resolve my issue?

Hello all, I did a reformat a while back and my cd-rom/cd-rw is not working properly. When I put in a regular music CD that I burned a while back on the same computer, it will sometimes read it and sometimes it wont. So I try it over and over again until it will finally play, but the songs skip. Its pretty much the same thing with other different CD's such as data and pc games I have to retry and retry untill it finally reads the CD. I also cannot burn any thing to any kind of CD.
