Most people's computers I fix, I install FF and stuff on and ask them to use that stuff to help protect their PC's. I hated using the PC's at school until I installed FireFox on a thumb drive. Now whenever I log into my account, I just plug in my thumb drive and go.
Oh I do despise using my brother's computer........................... damn iMac.
-
that program won't install. But honestly, I don't think it's anything with my PC. I think some automailer got my account name and password and is using it to do this crap. I'm calling my ISP tomorrow and having this account deleted and having a new one made. I just need to remember if anything else was registered with that account and switch it over to Gmail.

yeah, I'm callin my ISP tomorrow and am going to ask them to shut it off and make me a new one. I've already switched all my forum accounts over to my Gmail account. I've never even gotten spam in that account before. Plus I changed my password to a far longer one in Gmail that's pretty friggin hard for people to figure out if you ask me. It's easy for me to remember. And if I get any more crap, I have an uber end all password that's all numbers. It's a 12 digit number that I memorized years ago for something and never forgot it.

I was told to run a HijackThis for this.
My email acount from my ISP has been hijacked or something. It's been emailing crap about watches and stuff to people with fake names in the sender field. I know this cause my ISP has an email firewall (makes you wonder how my account got hijacked) and it's been sending me emails of blocked outgoing emails from this auto mailer. Thanks for any help with this.

I can't get my ISP until tomorrow. But how could this happen exactly? Does this mean someone has my password to my account? I ran spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, and AVG scans and only Spybot S&D picked anything up but it wasn't anything major. Plus I'm firewalled and use Thunderbird to check it. I have my password to it saved in Thunderbird though.
You don't suppose someone could have gained access to my account at school do you. I checked my email through Thunderbird on the wireless network at school.
-
I just checked my email today and got a bunch of things from my ISP's firewall saying that it blocked outgoing mail from me that was stuff I didn't do. It was like some crap for watches and what not. How do I fix this?
Thank you for any help.

Well, you have 4GB of RAM and Vista x64 can use all that but my experience with x64 was HORRIBLE. I despise it but tI have no qualms with the x86 version though. I have the 32-bit version of Home Basic on my laptop and actually really like it. I suggest either XP Pro or the 32-bit version of Ultimate despite the RAM. 3.25GB is still plenty.
I have had no issues aside from manufacturer (software and hardware) driver issues, however, even those have been limited. One could blame MS for their silly driver signature compatibility in Vista x64, however, it's also the manufacturers job to make the apporopriate drivers for the operating system.
Anyway, I've been using Vista Ultimate for over a year now (both x86 and x64) and I haven't had any major issues with it. The Service Pack that was just released for Vista has made some major improvements (from what I've seen) in stability, compatibility, and reliability.
I also agree with what Matt said, XP is nice, however, as noted it will not be around forever.
B
Well it ran like total crap on my system too aside from driver issues and other things. It was like having bad gas in my car. Sputtering, delayed response, took ungodly long to do anything (in comparison to my XP install), it just ran like crap and other stuff annoyed the hell out of me. XP 32-bit was far less hassle and performs infinitely better in every way. NOW, I have 32-bit Vista on my laptop and it's just fine. I like it. In fact I LOVE it. It responds relatively quick for what it is (Celeron 440, Intel 945G, 1.5GB RAM), it's rock solid and everything works. Just the security stuff is annoying and unzipping .zip files takes a while (I usually use WinRAR instead since it's faster than Vista's unzipper). Other than that I love it (particularly being able to change the theme's color on the fly to match wallpapers).

Well, apparently I had never gotten a good look a World Sport before cause I saw a nice up close picture and they don't look quite like I originally thought. It turns out now, I'm getting a universal A'PEXi World Sport 2 muffler and taking it to a shop to have it installed on the car with a new pipe. These have to come out straight.
I'll be getting the standard N/A version obviously.
-
found some CD's in a drawer in one of my desks (used to be my brother's)
Bush - Everything Zen
earlier I listened to:
Bush - Machine Head
Bush - Glycerine

I think with the nature of the site, your ISP may have very well blocked it. I know some ISP's block access to some sites and use of torrent programs and other programs.
-
the sound worked fine. Just the EAX didn't work right before or after SP1. But now I don't care cause I have XP SP2 again. I'll give Vista x64 another shot once I get an X-Fi and DX10 video card but even then I don't expect much.
-
I had 2 successful updates on the x64 version (same rig, 2 hard drives). First I did it with all drivers installed on one hard drive with out problems (aside from the problems I was already having with it) and installed it on another drive with no drivers or anything installed. I installed Vista x64 then immediately updated to SP1 (I had the .exe), then after that I installed all the drivers and program. Well I had all the same problems (only driver "problem" I had was that I wasn't getting all the EAX options for my Audigy 2ZS and that was both before and after the update). So, taking the problems into account (program incompatibility, program instability, slow/strange system operation) along with the extreme annoyances associated with any version of Vista, I trashed Vista x64 and went back to XP Home SP2 x86.
I'm seriously debating whether or not to update my Vista Home Basic x86 laptop cause it runs perfectly. No driver probs, rock solid stability, quick (friggin amazing considering it's a Celeron 440M with 1.5GB of RAM), and I don't have a Vista disc for it. No recovery disc either. Just that damn recovery partition that I honestly have no clue how to use. I don't wanna mess it up.
-
Commented I think I'm already subscribed to your YouTube (B16CXHatch is my YouTube user name) but I'm gonna resubscribe just in case.
-
Filled up today. 93 Octane was friggin $3.49 a gallon. Thank goodness I only needed 8 gallons of gas. $28 it cost me today. And got a really pleasing 30.25 MPG on the last tank.
Oh, and 87 was $3.19, and 89 was $3.34.
-
Oooooh, I could use some more DVD's
-
Got my new rig situated finally. I had Vista x64 on it for 2 days and friggin hated it so it's back on XP with a familiar look.
-
OK, got ALL my problems fixed FINALLY.......... I trashed the Vista install and put XP Home SP2 back on it. I'm customizing back to how my old rig was since while trying to get around my Vista probs, I trashed my old rig's XP install.
I'm not gonna mess with x64 Vista again until I feel like I absolutely have to (and I HIGHLY doubt that). Anyway, I'm very happy now (except the whole losing a crap load of cash thing).
-
Never mind. I give up. This has been a complete failure. This system is going back to XP and staying on it until I get a DX10 video card and a SoundBlaster X-Fi. Even then I might just buy a 32-bit copy of Vista despite the 4GB of RAM I have. Screw it. My 32-bit Vista laptop runs like a top. It's been rock friggin solid. But damn, this 64-bit install has been nothing but trouble. It's terrible. I'm gonna beat James for talkin me into gettin it. $110 down the friggin toilet. I could used that money to help with gettin a new exhaust for the car.
-
Well Zoom still doesn't work right and the EAX for the Audigy doesn't work right either.
I think I'll stick to the WD drive though cause it is considerably quieter. I'm gonna put the Seagate into my old rig I guess.
-
I installed it on the other drive now. It seems to responding a little quicker now. I'm gonna update it then install SP1 before installing any drivers. Maybe the audio stuff will work right. After that I'll install the Combined Community Codec Pack and StepMania and test them. Hopefully everything will work right then.
