  1. Hi All,

As usual, I'm doing a "coin flip" as to where to even put this question, as it is so dumb, but it's been driving me nuts!.

I've been told by some folks to turn off and unplug the computer when it is lightning outside, I've been told by others, that if I have a Surge Suppressor (which I do, priced just under the battery-back-up ones, so it should be a good one) not to worry about lightning.

Just how sensitive are these idiot boxes??  We've never been hit by lightning (thankfully) but MI is supposably second in US for lightning strikes, after Florida.  Does one have to be actually hit by lightning for damage to the computer, or does lightning just have to be close?  I play the "happy medium" and just turn off the computer during thunderstorms, but the kids don't.  As they say, "we don't turn anything else off, quit being paraniod, Mom!"

    What do you folks recommend?

    Thanks,

    Liz

  4. I want to add something.

Unlike G4, most people here have some sence. Most people here use correct grammar, DONT spam, DONT try to increase their post count by posting useless crap, and DONT act like ignorant little kids.

Remember, just because your parents dont want to raise you, doesnt mean we want to either.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

That was a mean thing to say about my parents >_<

But anyways ^^ thanks for the info

  5. he and welcome to BestTechie. the biggest thing that we have been trying to keep here is a relaxed easy going helpful atmosphere. like chappy said "dealt with swiftly, but fairly. " remember we do have our own brig and this is a one troll only zone. the position for troll has already been filled by the official Troll of BestTechie. don't worry he's nice, he just stays in the test section feeding on old test posts.

if you have any problems i already know that chappy doesn't mind a PM and please feel free to PM me. we are happy to help our lost G4 Family.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

^^ thanks for the welcome, i rather be called lost TechTV family though XD lol....

    Lamness sorry

  7. Hi

G4TV has CUT the Tech forum from the boards effective tomorrow!!

Major changes are taking effect over there, so I'm gone...no more board to mod for me so there's no reason to ever go there again.

I've invited others there to join us, but I hope some of the A-HOLES decide not to

    ;)

Anyway, we may soon see a major pickup in the Windows support section (fingers crossed)

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

XD iv made some stupid post in the past (along time ago 0-O) but iv learned befor ^^ long ago, i hope im not on of the a-holes your talking about XD
