  1. Thanks for all of the advice. I took the PC to a local computer shop who restored / reloaded the OS for me. I am now using XP Home edition, couldn't find the XP Media Center disk, so, he used what I had. (I actually thought that it was the right disk, but obviously not.) Only issue now is I can't figure out how to ge the PC to recognize the TV tuner card and watch tv on the PC, but that is the least of my worries at this point.
  2. My computer recently crashed and I had to install XP home, previously had Media Center edition. I think that I lost / misplaced the reinstall disk for media center edition. Not really a big deal, just needed the pc back up and running. However, now that I don't have media center, and have a tv tuner card, how do I watch / record tv on the pc. Am I out of luck? Thanks for any help you can provide.
  3. I do. In the meantime, I inadvertantly did an OS reinstall instead of a repair. Woo Hoo. I have a whole new set of issues now. Hopefully I can get everything installed and working.
  4. To further compound the issue, I ran the sfc check and it came back that I have missing files. It is asking me to insert the Windows XP Pro disk 2. I have XP Home Media Center, not Pro. Every disk I put in is being rejected as the wrong disk.
  5. I did a system restore on my PC. I rolled it back 3 days, and now Java doesn't work. Java links don't respond on IE7, and when I try to bring up System Restore again, it comes up as a blank page. I ran malware bytes to see if it could detect any malware, it seemed to come back clean. I also ran the microsoft scan and it came back clean. I Can't run Kapersky, because it won't respond to clicking on the link. I also tried reinstalling Java, but that did not have any effect on the issue. I am truly at a loss here. Hope you can help. Thanks.
