  1. Congratulations Peaches, I dunno what this Gibson site is, but congrats I suppose =3 Analyzing strings in your processes with process explorer can generally tell you if you have a virus or not. It may take a little while but if it's there, you can find it x3 I've seen some pretty crazy viruses in my day... my friend ( supposedly a computer expert XD ) had received a virus VIA something.... Anyway, the virus had completely made every single .exe useless after windows loaded. You couldn't run anything. I think it did massive damage to his registry. But this was long long ago when I was
  2. No operating system is perfectly secure. Some hardened versions of BSD like OpenBSD are quite secure. Lets say we reversed the popularity of windows and OSX, something tells me, OSX would have far more viruses than windows XP does in reality today. But who knows, you also have to calculate the difference in income, of course more money = more staff. So maybe, maybe not. But as it stands, there is no possible way that OSX is more secure than windows XP and I do love Windows XP ( nlited of course ;3 )
  3. What is this whole "User ignorance" factor I am hearing? Are you saying Apple users are more experienced by majority VS Windows Users? If not, then that whole statement wasn't really relevant in my opinion. Especially considering from my personal communication with many Mac Fanboys, they couldn't tell the difference between a dorito and a pentium processor. <-- just remember most Mac users are mac users because their Windows kept getting viruses and crashing... My Windows never crashes, never gets viruses ( oh look I don't even have anti virus installed ) But I guess I should be more
  4. I'm not saying that there are no mac viruses out there. You still need to install this virus to get it to activate on a mac. My initial point still stands. If you are a complete moron who is willing to install a pirated version of software that you've downloaded from a file sharing site you deserve to get owned. To activate this mac virus you need to give the installer root access to your system. So you are installing the virus. That isn't exactly on par with the drive by shootings that occur with windows. It is a good practice to only install software from a trusted source. That point
  5. This design is made by me ^.^ OS: Windows XP Pro, Yesh I love Pink XD, You can click on the image for a larger one. =3 My Main PC ( Blossom ) My NetBook ( Sakura ) My Backup PC ( Milia )
  6. The virus's. They still require user interaction of some sort ;3
  7. Have you scrolled your mouse at the bottom of the screen to check if it pops up? You or someone else could of set it to auto hide lol.
  8. Viruses and worms are pretty much self-propagating by definition. Not sure what your "Self-Propagating" was refering too, the user's "self" or the Virus's "self"?
  9. You said you bought it in 2002? When was the last time it was internally cleaned from dust, sometimes all kinds of dust/things can get into your system and cause havok on your electronics. When I say internally cleaned, I mean completely taken apart, all fans wiped clean from dust, all circuit boards cleaned from dust as well. Edit: On a side note, my fathers Toshiba satellite notebook had over heating issues due to dust build up, cleaned the notebook completely ( after spending an hour+ taking it apart )... no problems afterwords. It wasn't the same model as yours, but from what I read..
  10. This may be a long shot, but have you tried testing your PC speakers in another device? If not, and you still cannot hear sound, I suggest checking the various connections involved with it.
  11. Something like 99.9999% of viruses/trojans/spyware/adware/worms/etc require user interaction...
  12. Here is an old one called "Month of the Apple Bugs", imagine how many they'd find if they continued? http://projects.info-pull.com/moab/
  13. Why are people so surpised when Apple OS' get viruses? Their OS is highly insecure... the myth that they are more secure than Windows is highly inaccurate.
  14. Best buy? Don't you mean Worst Buy? ;p Ironically I believe my AL1916W ASD is FROM circuit city lol and so is my G15 logitech gaming keyboard v1.1!?
