  1. Any football fans out there? Well since I'm from San Francisco I have to go with the 49ers. Sucks though, they lost to the Falcons yesterday. First time the Falcons have won at the 'Stick in a while. Our quaterbacks are pretty weak this year, defense looked good though. Lets see how the rest of the teams do in the season. Bring on the Saints, hopefully the 49ers will do better.

What are your favorite teams, if you have any?

    go SFGiants!

  2. I have not watched the show in such a long time. I used to watch(CFH or SS) the shows and if I missed it I would watch it in the morning, don't think they still repeat it. Honestly, I really did enjoy both shows quite a bit, but now I have forgotten they exist and the channel. Pretty sad I think, I'm sure they lost alot of loyal viewers with all the transitions and growing pains the show has exhibited. I will make a note to watch the new show today (repeat?) and will add my thoughts.

  3. Hello, everyone. Didnt know where else to post. This is a simple registry change that allows you to open Ad-aware with Firefox. Normally it would open with IE, even though Firefox is my default browser.

    Reposted from Lavasoft:

For those users who have Mozilla or Firefox as their default browser, a small registry change is needed in order to open links from Ad-Aware SE with these browsers instead of IE. This is because neither Mozilla nor Firefox make this registry change themself.

Note: It is always recommended that you back up your registry before making any registry edit.

Please see . Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 322756 for information on backing up your registry

    Important Notes:

    • The location used in the reg-files below is the DEFAULT installation location for both Mozilla and Firefox.

    • Make sure both IE and Firefox/Mozilla are closed.

Launch Notepad and copy/paste the purple bold text below for your default browser in a new text file.

Save it as: html.reg (Change the 'Save As Type' to 'All Files').

    Save the file in C:\.

    Firefox

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\open\command]

    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Mozilla Firefox\\firefox.exe\" "

    Mozilla

    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile\shell\open\command]

    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\mozilla.org\\Mozilla\\Mozilla.exe\" "

Now, locate the html.reg file (in C:\) that you just created and launch it (double-click on it).

You'll recieve a message similiar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?"

Answer yes and another message will appear saying that is was successful.

To test, launch Ad-Aware SE and select Add-ons. Right-click on any installed add-on and click on the link for "Check for new Ad-Aware Add-ons". The Lavasoft Plugins link will open in Mozilla or Firefox, depending on which browser is set to open up HTML documents. In the Ad-Aware SE Help File, there is no way of changing that from opening links in IE as this is hard-coded into Windows.

    (Regedit Instructions provided by SpyDie.)

Hope this helps out any Fire fox or Mozilla users. :)

  4. Man if I had a machine like that I am sure I would go back up to 30 cups of coffee a day. That's right, it's not a typo as I use to drink 30 cups of java ah day. Now I only drink about 12 cups of Joe a day. I'm less hyper so I have been told. My DR. still isn't to happy about it, but as I tell her at least I am not drinking 30 cups of joe. A machine like that would be the cause of my happy death LMAO. boi17.gif

30 cups of coffee, wow. Did you work the graveyard shift somewhere?I know quite a few people that cannot function without it, carrying their 32oz. coffee mug. Coffee can be so addicting, just imagine if it was within reach and some Kahlua to add to it or your choice of poison.

  5. Hi WiredMonkey, I have not tried the Yahoo toolbar, since I was also skeptical. From what I have read, you have to manually configure it scan for spyware, might be changed. It uses Pestpatrol in its partnership with the tool bar. Also another bit of controversy was the Claria and Gator financial links.

    Here is some interesting reading:

    Yahoo toolbar

    False spyware links

There are plenty of articles concerning the Yahoo toolbar.

  6. In mine, they moved the message again...it's almost like a banner type of notification now, located just above the inbox when you go into Gmail. It should be there...it's a deep blue color. Let us know if you find it there...I was going to mention the move, but I figured I'd hold off...guess I shoulda said something earlier ;)

Same here concerning the blue banner style box, I thought I lost all my invites. They are a little hard to see, but they are there. If they disappear, thay should come back. Report if they do.

Side note: gmail invites still available pm info.

  7. Hi snaxe, this is how I manually removed the DSO exploit, I'm sure that there are a couple other ways to do it, but this is the route I took.

Basically after you are done with your scan, the DSO exploits(5 for me) will come up.Before you do anything, since you will be in the registry, please back it up.

To backup your registry: start> run> regedit(enter)> right-click on the key you will be altering> export> save.

Once SpyBot S&D is done scanning, do not choose to fix the DSO exploits, expand the entries by clicking the "+" sign. Right-click on one of the keys brings up the menu> more details> jump to location, it will allow you to navigate to the key. You can also follow the path of the key in the registry.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0

Go to the "1004" key under the "0" folder and if it says under type "REG_SZ" delete it. Right-click in the keys window> new> DWORD Value and name it "1004", like the previous key.

Select the new "1004" key> right-click> modify> value data> enter a 3 > click ok . Repeat for the other keys, reboot after altering a key to see if it works.

    old key: "1004".......REG_SZ......... (no value)

new key: "1004".......REG_DWORD......0x00000000 (3)<-- added value of 3

I also believe since that is a native problem to Spybot S&D that is used identify knockoffs of Spybot. I believe I read that at the Spywarewarriors site, can't remember right now. Hope that helps

  8. Just noticed after posting and going through that it had already been posted - missed it when I scanned the first time.  So, sorry olmec36 - didn't mean to repeat the info you'd already given!  But, at least it's out in the community now....I must need more coffee!

No worries. I think this type of information is important nonetheless, to alert the users that don't have A2 to also update their anti-everthing programs.
